However, APFS volumes are designed to allocate disk space as needed. If you're worried about running out of disk space on either your main drive or the new volume, you can select a minimum/maximum volume size. After completing Step 7 above: Click Size Options. Enter a Reserve size to ensure that the new volume will always have a minimum amount. A huge chunk of the fun that you’ll find on the web is the ability to download images and other files to your MacBook. If you’ve visited a site that offers files for downloading, typically you just click the Download button or the download file link, and Safari takes care of the rest. MacBook Air devices mostly use solid-state drives (SSD) to store data. An SSD can be divided into several volumes or partitions. The macOS is located on the startup disk, while other volumes contain user data. The overall storage space can be split among the startup disk and other volumes on the SSD if no separate volumes have been created.
Let macOS manage space between multiple volumes
With Apple File System (APFS), the file system introduced in macOS 10.13, you can easily add and delete volumes on your storage devices. APFS-formatted volumes automatically grow and shrink—you never have to repartition a storage device again.
Keep your external storage devices secure
When you get a new flash drive or other storage device, format it as APFS and encrypt it with a password to protect its contents.

I want to import songs from a couple CDs onto my MacBook Air. Is there a way to hook up my MacBook Air with a USB cable (or some other way) in order to rip songs from a cd onto my MacBook hard drive or is my only way to rip them onto my PC desktop, then email the songs to myself, or put them on a flash drive, then put them on my MacBook? I just figured there's gotta be a way to hook up my MacBook to my pc with a USB cable, then transfer them in one step.
Thanks for the help.
